"Right." What a twat. Nicolas looked at him a bit longer than he meant to anyway, then he turned to walk off to Lestat's bike, shrugging him off when he tried to wrap his arms around him and make nice. He knew Lestat would do what and who he wanted to do, but he'd gotten quite enough random abuse for one night. He lit his cigarette and leaned against the bike, turning his head to the side when Lestat leaned in to kiss him. Made Lestat sulk very ostentatiously, but the hell with it.
Drusilla was still in a good mood, taking Spike's hand as if nothing had happened. "I just wanted to see who'd win. He's strong." It was hot. But she got on her toes anyway to kiss the side of Spike's face softly. "You fought very well though."
Nicolas had a boyfriend. A boyfriend. He was gay and he had a boyfriend. Why the hell did that burn a hole in his stomach. He felt such hopelessness inside and he didn't even know why. Nicolas had barely been in his life, came and gone and clearly didn't take that much notice of him. Granted he'd changed but there was nothing, not even a flicker. With a sigh, he turned to Dru and bit back all of his anger at her, instead kissing her softly and letting his chin rest against her shoulder. "I wish you'd take my side more, pet. You know I love you more than any of those blokes ever will. Why isn't it ever enough?"
He didn't know why he even tried. She'd never love him like he loved her. One day he'd just have to face it and more on. "Eh, doesn't matter. As long as you don't leave me."
Nicolas leaned his head back to blow out the smoke, finally allowing Lestat to kiss his neck. Might as well. However, his mind was still dealing with something else and as he played with his lighter in his pocket it finally clicked. "William?!"
Lestat was understandably confused, but Nicolas wasn't paying any attention to him right now. He just looked over at the man who was being snuggled by his girlfriend, trying to be certain. Had to be him, didn't it? Effulgent. And he'd come to seek him out.
Spike didn't acknowledge the cry, he just suddenly looked at Dru like she was way more worth his time than Nicolas because hell, he had wanted this a minute ago but hearing that name almost made him wince. Shit, why did he want this again? Oh, right, because he was an idiot. "Dru, pet, don't respond to either of them. Pretend they're not there. We'll head in to find Angel in a sec, okay? Just ignore them."
Spike lit up his cigarette and took a deep inhale, more interested in that then even so much as owning up to being that idiot boy in the music room. Nope, no, he was not going back to that. Though it was kind of nice. To be remembered.
"Ready, William," Drusilla agreed with a smile, but it wasn't as if either of the two could hear them. She just couldn't resist the teasing. But this made her ever so curious now anyway, so while she walked away with Spike, she did question him. "Tell me all about him." She liked a good story. Not necessarily true stories, but interesting ones.
Nicolas had watched him carefully for a reaction, but now he was just the guy calling out random men's names while being kissed by his boyfriend. Luckily it was Lestat, so he could care less, especially once Nicki was finally kissing him properly.
"About him? He was someone I knew at school, is all. He was nice to me. I liked him," Crushed on him hard, turned up at the music room to hide behind the piano and listen to him play. Still kept that plectrum, still smoked, still kept on writing though it wasn't poetry now, it was music. Lyrics. He was vastly better at that, especially not he'd cut back talking like a sodding thesaurus. He supposed that after college and after the loss of his mother, he had lost a lot of his motivations to write. Dru has resparked that in him. "I was nothing back then so it doesn't matter if I liked him or not. He must have been a daft wanker to like an idiot like me."
He liked the way he was now, preferred it. Dru had picked out his hair colour and Angel had found his clothes. Between them, they made shy William into Spike, he didn't ever want to go back to what he was. He liked this life. "Let's not dwell on the past, love. Let's just go home."
